Welcome to Crab Fly Art Studio
The home of Dale R Bishop's Art Studio
Brought up in Bragg Creek, Alberta Canada (60km West of Calgary, Alberta) on the family's Saddle & Sirloin Ranch gave Dale the appreciation of nature, animals an d the infamous culture of the West. As a youngster Dale had developed an interest in drawing and continued to work in his chosen medium of pen and ink on the side while attending Lakeland College, for Livestock Management / Western Horsemanship credentials, by creating logos for the extra-curricular programs. To fully emcompass his love of the West it is mentionable that he tried his hand at bullfighting, team roping, and steer wrestling.
Doodling at an early age, over the years Dale has had the pleasure of mentoring with such artists as Jon Williams, Stan Perrot, Bob Treacy, Neil Patterson.By creating his work with realism, Dale feels it "allows for the true character of [the] subject to come to life on paper." Inspired by his western lifestyle, while growing up on the ranch, training horses and giving riding lessons in addition to general ranch work, he finds he has a deep affection for all aspects of nature and landscape around his home region.
Dale work has been sold both privately and in commercial galleries. In addition he has the unique distinction of being the youngest to ever be selected by the Calgary Exibition and Stampede to display his work at the Western Art Gallery. Most recently chosen to participate in the Showcase Stir'Up at this past years stampede.Originals, commisions, cards and prints have been travelled the world to end up in international homes such as the UK, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Australia, and numerous states in the USA.
